Exams of colleges, external candidates: KU revising timetable to conduct exams on holidays

The late start of academic session in University of Karachi would not affect its schedule, as the varsity administration working to revise timetable for collages and external candidates exams so that these could be conducted on holidays in order to complete academic session on time.
Last year, only 151 days academic activities were held in KU. There were 20 scheduled holidays, 45 summer vacations, 15 days for winter holidays, 104 weekends (Saturdays & Sundays). Besides these, the university remained closed for 30 more days due to various reasons.
According to a KU official, around 45 lectures were scheduled in a semester of a subject but academic staffs take 35 to 40 classes during the entire semester. The reason for 30 days closure was the clashes between the rival student groups, uncertain law and order situation in the campus and various unscheduled holidays by the government such as the Sindhi Topi and Ajrak Day.
KU Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi while talking to Business Recorder said the academic staff would take extra classes to complete the session if needed.
