Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal appeared on Monday before Islamabad High Court (IHC) with reference to Faizabad Interchange sit-in.
As the hearing of the case resumed, Justice Shaukat Aziz asked some important questions from Iqbal and ordered to form a new inquiry committee under Barrister Zafarullah’s supervision to probe Khatm-e-Nabuwat matter.
According to local media reports, on reaching the court, Iqbal informed the court about the agreement signed with the protesters over which the court remarked, “We directed you to vacate Faizabad not to sign any agreement.” The judge then asked to read out the agreement, saying that how long the nation has to suffer all this. Interior minister said that the country is moving toward biggest security challenges.
The court has also expressed displeasure over involvement of army representative in the agreement and pointed out incapability of government for not handling situation properly.
On November 24, the IHC issued a contempt notice to Iqbal for not taking any steps to end the Faizabad sit-in that had entered its third week.
