Muhammad Saeed Shafiq, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) stressed on the importance of communication in today's business world, the telecommunication holds binary importance in today's business arena.
Shafiq was speaking at the first sub-committee meeting of Communication & Transport attended by the PTCL senior management, president apprised that though we are largely in the arena of wireless communication but the importance of landlines still stood superior and reliable in comparison of cell phones as there is no hassle of signals and line drop; if the connection is in good working shape. Junaid Esmail Makda, Vice President reminded PTCL of the agreement on usage of KCCI premises to accept applications and complaints for fixing of underground cable. He accentuated that PTCL and KCCI should sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual interest and co-ordination.
Shahid Ismail, Advisor sub-committee requested PTCL that if telephone line remains out-of-order for 20 days in a month, its line rent should not be charged. He appraised PTCL of the fact that at present only 3,000 telephone lines are faulty though, for the same in past, average was 60,000 to 70,000. Shahid requested PTCL to offer discounted tariff for EVO and DSL for KCCI members. Liaquat Ali Shaikh, Chairman, Communication & Transport, Sub-Committee suggested PTCL that the change and professionalism should spread out and implicit at all levels, across the country. Speaking on the UAN, he said, PTCL has imposed heavy fee on users and relaxation need to be provided due to current economic and business scenario.-PR
