The Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, has condemned the police lathi charge on the University of Education students and the media personnel terming it most inhuman and anti-education step of the Punjab government. In a statement here, he said the students- male and female- were protesting over the unlawful termination of their teachers as was their democratic right but the rulers were denying that.
He announced full support to the students demand for withdrawal of the dismissal order of their teachers and restoration of normal education activities in the university. Liaquat Baloch noted that the Punjab government had completely failed in resolving the peoples problems during the last three years, the infra structure in the fields of education, agriculture and health had completely collapsed and the masses were sick of the army of incompetent advisors in the province.
He said the apprehensions of the students, the parents and the teachers in regard to the Board of Governors for educational institutions were fully justified as this would close the door of education on the poor and middle class youth. A spokesman of the Jamaat- e- Islami, has condemned provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah's statement about the JI and its chief.
In a rejoinder to the minister, the spokesman said that with the blessing of Allah Almighty, the JI was carrying on public welfare projects worth billions of rupees with the funds collected through hides and skins of sacrificial animals.
The spokesman said that for the JI, the hides and skins were not a reproach as the JI leaders were not pulling down the skins of human beings like other politicians in the country. He said, in the 2002 elections, the JI had as many as 70 members in the assemblies and the party decided to boycott on principles the 2008 elections according to the decision of the APDM. Besides, he said, the JI had never signed agreements with dictators. The spokesman wondered whom was Rana Sanaullah serving through such statements.
