A Chinese engineer was wounded on Thursday during a robbery attempt in the Boat Basin police precincts. According to police, the armed robbers intercepted the Chinese engineer while on his way in his car (AJY-191) from a local bank after drawing Rs 5 million. They said the armed men tried to loot him. On his resistance they opened fire on him.
They said the culprits managed to flee from the scene. Police shifted the injured to a private hospital where doctors declared him in a stable condition. When contacted, DSP Qamar Ahmed said the bandits had escaped without looting money as police party, which was on routine patrolling, reached the crime scene immediately.
