Pasban Rickshaw Drivers Union Punjab has demanded that the government should financially support the Rickshaw Owners to convert the 2-Storkes engine into 4-strokes.
While addressing a press conference here on Monday at Lahore Press Club, Muhammad Ayub Khan Saleem Shazad Ansari, President and Chairman of the Pasban Rickshaw Drivers Union Punjab appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Secretary Transport Punjab Muhammad Yousaf to wave off previous fines imposed on the rickshaw permits and new permits should be issued after receiving original permit fee only.
They also demanded that approval certificates and Licenses of the CNG Rickshaw Manufacturers companies should be cancelled who were manufacturing sub-standard CNG Rickshaws.
They demanded that there should be a ban on the issuance of new registrations and route permits to the CNG Rickshaw in the provincial metropolis, Faisalabad, Gujrawala, Rawalpindi, Multan because of their saturation.
It would not only help control the rapidly increasing traffic mess but also provide financial security to the Rickshaw drivers who are already on the roads they added.
They said after the conversion of 2-strokes Rickshaws into 4-Storkes commuters would have a comfortable and easily available public transport. They said if the government did not impose ban on the new registration of Rickshaws, the crowded traffic mess would be uncontrollable for the traffic police. They demanded strict action against the sub-standard Manufacturerers of CNG Rickshaws by the government. . Mian Ijaz Hussain, Vice President Hassan Khan and other officer bearers of the union were also present on the occasion.
