The Advocate General Punjab has informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) that neither a single student has been expelled from college nor fee has been increased but teachers are still using students and holding protest demonstrations.
The court had restrained the teachers/students from observing boycott till final decision of the court in suo motu notice taken police torture on protesting teachers and students against introduction of Board of governors in 26 government colleges out side the Punjab assembly building.
The bench headed by LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry had issued notices to board of governors of 26 colleges.
The police and the security persons on December 8 last had resorted to lethal charge and free use of tear gas outside Punjab Assembly, on the teachers and students who were protesting the constitution of Board of Governors colleges.
They expressed their concern that the BoGs would slash the number of teachers in colleges under the garb of downsizing and raise the college fees beyond the financial capacity of the students. Dozens of teachers and students sustained injuries while many others were taken into custody, who were later released.
