The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has compiled a supplementary list of around 65 customs officials including Additional Collectors, Deputy Collectors and other officials of Grade-17 to Grade-19, who were responsible for dealing with the Afghan transit trade issues including Nato and ISAF containers destined for Afghanistan.
It has been reliably learnt here on Wednesday that the FBR is finalising the second list of 65 customs officials, who remained posted at different Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) for dealing with the Afghan transit trade from January 1, 2007 to October 15, 2010. The additional list covered Additional Collectors of Customs, Deputy Collector of Customs, Assistant Collector of Customs including IT system operators and providers of both the customs clearance apparatus.
According to sources, the FBR list covers customs officials, who remained posted at various customs stations, transit customs stations, ports and other border customs stations. The second list has also mentioned names of officials, who worked as In-charge of Afghan Transit Section in different MCCs. The new list is covering customs officials of MCC Preventive Karachi, MCC Quetta, MCC Appraisement Karachi, MCC Port Qasim Karachi and MCC Peshawar. As soon as the supplementary list would be finalised by the concerned authorities, the exact names, designations, positions, tenure of postings and station of postings would be available to the FBR.
Sources said that the second list of customs officials mostly cover those Additional Collectors of Customs, Deputy Collectors of Customs, Assistant Collectors of Customs, who were involved in operational issues of Afghan transit trade during the period under review.
It is important to mention here that the Board had submitted a list of 43 officials to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, who remained posted at different positions in the FBR and its field formations from January 1, 2007 to October 15, 2010. This first list contains names of officials responsible for policy making. The list also contains names of who were dealing with the customs related affairs at operational level. The list contains names of customs officials at directors'' level who were practically involved in customs related operations in the field formations.
