A blasphemy case has been registered in the limits of Karachi's Shahrea Noor Jahan police station. According to police sources, Muhammad Samiullah, an intermediate student, was arrested on January 28, 2011, on the complaint of chief controller of intermediate education board, who accused Samiullah of writing derogatory remarks about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his answer sheets.
They said that Samiullah, a resident of Malir Halt, Karachi, had expressed highly objectionable remarks about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his three answer sheets of Urdu, Islamiat and Physics papers. They said FIR (56/11) under 295-C of Pakistan Penal Code had been registered against him in the Shahrea Noor Jahan police station.
SP Shahrea Noor Jahan police station Zafar Iqbal said the arrest was made on the complaint of chief controller of intermediate education board, who accused the student of writing derogatory remarks about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his answer sheets. He said the police had obtained all his answer sheets before taking him into custody. Furthermore, he said the challan in this regard was presented in the court and Samiullah was now in jail custody.
When contacted, Qudrat Lodhi, the investigation officer of this case, said that the accused was brainwashed by his relatives, who had come from Norway. He further said that although Samiullah suffers from no physical or mental illness, his cousins, who had now returned to Norway, lured him into committing this heinous offence.
