Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has provided professional training to as many as 150,196 teachers of different private schools in the past many years to help improve their teaching style. For this purpose, 25,270 training sessions were held in different districts. This training was especially beneficial to low-cost schools in less-developed areas where teachers lack access to latest concepts of teaching & classroom management.
This was the gist of briefing of Managing Director Punjab Education Foundation Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, given to Ms Salma Abbasi, Chairperson and CEO of e Worldwide Group- a consortium of 37 international companies and universities, at PEF office.
In the briefing, Wani told that Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has now planned to employ IT graduates as Subject Specialists for partner schools. In the first phase, 25 such Subject Specialists will be hired, he added. Explaining the rationale of the move, he hoped that it would help to broaden understanding of information and communication technology in economically deprived students.
Teaching in Clusters by Subject Specialists (TICSS) programme is also going to be extended from 24 districts to all the 36 districts of the province, he disclosed. PEF is transforming the lives of students through innovative improvements so that they emerge as leaders of tomorrow.
On the occasion, Ms Abbasi said that ICT can be of great help to a developing country like Pakistan to improve its literacy rate and bring the droppers back to schools. She said ICT has made the distant learning easier. She also said that students should be taught about the best use of technology and PC can be used for learning in villages. Different programme heads also briefed Ms Abbasi about working of their programmes and its impact on students.
