Chief Justice Lahore High Court here Wednesday directed police to record the statements of witnesses immediately in Raymond Davis case who is facing charges of killing two Pakistanis on January 27. The court disposed of the writ petition accusing the police of favouring the accused Raymond and not recording the statements of witnesses.
Imran Haider, brother of Faizan Haider, who with his friend Faheem was gunned down by Raymond Davis, contended in his petition that the police was favouring the accused in different ways. He said after registration of FIR on his complaint, the police was not recording his statement and statements of other eyewitnesses to favour the accused.
He visited the police station for recording the statements but the incharge investigation had refused to record the statements on the plea that they were under instructions and is not in a position to record the statements without prior permission of his high ups.
