The police has gained high respect in the eyes of the public due to the great sacrifices they have made in tackling the acts of terrorism while presently the police is now acting as a dedicated force that would go a long way in reducing crimes.
The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) former President Mian Shafqat Ali stated this while addressing an award giving ceremony arranged by LCCI Standing Committee on Paper and Paper Board to pay tributes to the best performers in different private and public sectors.
He said there are no two opinions about it that only strong institutions could guarantee good governance as weak institutions mean weak system and no country could achieve its targets with weak system. He said that keeping the flow of the traffic was a Herculean task but the traffic police was managing it in such a nice manner that every segment of society was appreciating them.
He said that the liaison between police and the business community was a must and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce was giving a special attention to increase liaison with police. Khamis Saeed Butt, the Convenor LCCI Standing Committee on Paper and Paper Board, paid rich tributes to traffic police for having consistent liaison with trading community. He said that the traffic police role is very vital in the sense that a disciplined traffic flow gives a picture of whole society on the one hand while on the other hand it plays its role in economic turnaround by cutting transportation time of goods carriers.
He said that All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APMA) had twice been provided the opportunity to hold licensing course while the third course is being held on next month. He also appreciated the best co-operation of Chairman CM Task Force Waheed Alam.
The SSP Sardar Asif Ali while speaking on the occasion highlighted various issues and told the participants that city traffic police was putting in its best efforts to keep vehicular traffic on the move. It is providing necessary assistance to the government in the removal of encroachments, which are the biggest hurdle in the flow of traffic.
At the end of the function, appreciation shields and appreciation awards were given to SSP Rana Ahmad Hussain, SSP Sardar Asif Ali, SP Zeeshan Asghar, SP Faisal Gulzar, SP City Dr Shahzad Asif, S P City Traffic Imtiaz Sarwar, DSP Arif Mehmood Butt, DSP Kh. Zahid Abbas, SHO New Anar Kali Adnan Masood, Superintendent Engr. Khalid Mehmood Sindhu, Banker Zakir Qureshi, Co-Chairmen Mohammad Ajmal, Samiullah Butt, Khalid Pervez (President Anjum-e-Tajiran Pakistan) and Mian Amjad Hussain.
The house also paid rich tributes to the services of Late Zulqarnain Malik and Late Chaudhry Taj Din and announced commemorative awards for them that were received by Chaudhry Fazal Karim and Hafiz Khalid Nasim respectively.
