The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has constituted six survey teams to ensure compliance and payment of minimum monthly wages of Rs 7000 to unskilled workers and private security guards.
It was stated by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mahmood Pirzada while chairing a meeting with the owners of private security companies to ensure strict implementation of minimum monthly wages of Rs 7000 for the unskilled workers and private security guards.
The teams under the supervision of the Director Industries and Labour Islamabad Malik Zafar Iqbal Awan have started a comprehensive survey and inspection of factories, commercial establishments and private security companies.
The Chief Commissioner informed the participants that the administration has also established a help-line at telephone Nos 9261241 and 9260738 for prompt redressal of complaints relating to non-compliance of minimum monthly wages of Rs 7000 to the unskilled workers and security guards by the employers and action against the violators. Director Industries and Labour Islamabad Malik Zafar Iqbal Awan has been appointed focal person in this regard.
The owners of all private security companies operating in Islamabad Capital Territory assured the Chief Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mahmood Pirzada that the Minimum Monthly Wages law of Rs 7000 for the unskilled workers and private security guards would be complied with in letter and spirit within the territorial limits of Islamabad capital territory.
The Chief Commissioner made it clear that the government has fixed minimum monthly salary of Rs 7000 for the unskilled workers with effect from July 2010. Industries and Labour Department Islamabad has already issued a notification to this effect, therefore, in pursuance of the order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the ICT Administration would ensure strict implementation of the minimum wages law in Islamabad capital territory.
