Pamela Anderson sparks controversy for blaming sexual harassment victims
Pamela Anderson has been facing backlash over her comments that Harvey Weinstein victims walked into their own assault and need to stop making excuses.
The ‘Baywatch’ star, in an interview with Megyn Kelly, said that it's common sense not to go into a hotel room with a man. “I think it was common knowledge that certain producers and certain people in Hollywood are people to avoid privately. You know what you’re getting into if you go to a hotel room alone,” she said.
The 50-years-old actress appeared on American broadcaster NBC's ‘Megyn Kelly Today’ programme.
She also said, “When I came to Hollywood, of course I had a lot of offers to do private auditions and things that made absolutely no sense. Just common sense, don’t go into a hotel room alone. If someone enters a door in a bathrobe, leave. These things that are common sense.”
She later clarified her position in a blog entry, stating, “I did not say that women deserved being abused or that the pigs like Weinstein were not to be punished. Quite the opposite, I said myself that Weinstein is a sexist pig and a bully. So this is not victim blaming but looking at the issue from the angle of women being aware of certain problems and how to spot them and fight them,” The Sun reported.
After facing severe backlash for her comment, she also posted a long message through her Instagram post.
