Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has waived off fee on the issuance of authority letter for the export of wheat products to Afghanistan. The decision taken in the executive body meeting of the association aimed the promotion of commerce and industry and has been taken in wake of the lifting of ban on the export of flour to Afghanistan.
Chairman, PFMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan presided the meeting while former chairmen Mohammad Naeem Butt, Malik Iftikhar Ahmad Awan, vice chairman, Peshawar Division, Haji Musarrat Shah, Haji Ghani-ur-Rehman Khattak and members executive were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan said that the country has sufficient reserves of wheat, saying that the decision of increasing the quota of wheat export to Afghanistan from 0.2 million ton to 2 million ton has saved the national exchequer of a huge loss.
He ruled out the fears of flour shortage and said that the government has surplus wheat in stock and there is no need to be worried. He said that the permission of flour export had enabled the flour mill industry of the province to carry around the clock grinding. He said that the decision has not only cut down unemployment, but good quality flour is also available to the people. He said that the people would have no problem even after the arrival of the new crop. He further said that increase in the wheat export quota to Afghanistan is ample proof of the surplus wheat reserves.
