Leaders of the main religious parties in separate meetings have said that the religious parties are against terrorism and want peace for prosperity of the country. Addressing the party workers here on Sunday Amir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the religious parties were against terrorism and wanted to resolve issues through negotiations.
Fazl said problems of the people could not be solved by armed struggle but by peaceful means.
Talking to party workers Amir Markazi Jamiat Ahle Adith Senator Sajid Mir said that revival of MMA was need of the hour to meet the challenges for which Fazl-ur-Rehman was making sincere efforts.
He said there was no reason left for Jamaat-e-Islami not to join the revived MMA as its all conditions had been fulfilled. He said the religious parties must unite to foil designs of Pakistan's enemies and protect the institutions and Islamic values of the nation.
Criticising the PPP government, Sajid Mir said the elected government had failed to come up to the expectations of the electorate as it was following the policies of Pervaiz Musharraf. Corruption, inflation, nepotism, bad governance and insecurity is on the rise, he observed.
Addressing a reception in his honour at Ghazi Abad here on Sunday Chairman Sunni Ittehad Council Pakistan, Haji Mohammad Fazal Karim, appealed to the religious parties not to support the terrorists and sign the 'Charter of Peace' in the greater interest of the nation.
He alleged that the "liberal and secular forces" were linking the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti with the blasphemy law and using it against Islam and for the destruction of Islamic institutions. "They want to divide Pakistani and implement agenda of the western countries," he added.
He said the United States is making a conspiracy to hijack the peoples and Islamic revolution in the Arab world. The reception was also attended by religious leaders Pir Syed Mahfooz Mashhadi, Pir Syed Ajmal Shah Gilani, Mufti Syed Muzamil Hussain, Mufti Fazalur Rehman Okarvi, Mir Mohammad Athar Alqadiri, Mohammad Nawaz Kharal, Zahid Habib Qadri, Pir Syed Abid Hussain Shahgardezi, Mufti Liaquat Ali Siddiqiui, Maulana Mohammad Ali Naqshbandi, Mufti Mohammad Hasib Qadiri and others.
The Sunni Ittehad Council has also announced to hold 'Istehkaam-e-Pakistan Conference' at the Minar-e-Pakistan ground on 11th March against Raymond Davis and price hike.
