A German court jailed for two and a half years on Wednesday the wife of an Islamist extremist serving 12 years for plotting attacks on US servicemen and civilians in Germany. Filiz Gelowicz, 29, was found guilty of supporting "foreign terrorist groups" but the fact that she confessed and has since distanced herself from the groups counted in her favour, the court in Berlin ruled.
Husband Fritz, a German convert to Islam, was jailed in March 2010 along with three others in the so-called Sauerland cell for planning in 2007 what the judge called "a second September 11, 2001."
