The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Islamabad has unearthed a fake fertiliser company secretly operating in suburb of Federal Capital and arrested 11 persons, besides seizing huge quantity of raw material and machinery being used to prepare urea fertilisers and pesticides.
The CIA received a anonymous application, disclosing the covert functioning of a fake fertiliser company near Dhok Juma at Badana Kalan, near Tarnol. Responding to the application, Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Tahir Ayub constituted a special team led by DSP CIA (Investigation) Muhammad Shafique to look into the matter and book those involved in illegal business, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police on Wednesday.
The team after obtaining search warrants from court raided the place where it recovered huge quantity of raw material and machinery used for preparing fake fertilisers. The factory is said to be owned by Malik Saeed, Javed Qadri and Sabir Bhatti. It was set up near a kiln and was covered with sheds and high walls, the spokesman said.
During the raid, police team arrested 11 persons namely Liaqat Ali, Aamir Shehzad, Asghar Khan, Muhammad Bashir, Muhammad Shahid, Khuda Buksh, Kaleem Ullah, Ghulam Hussain, Abdul Ghaffar, Shaukat Ali and Dost Muhammad. A case under FIR No 106/11 has been registered against them at Tarnol Police Station under sections 420, 468, 477, 482 and 487/34 PPC.
A police team has been constituted to arrest absconders. Further investigation is under way. It has been revealed that fake fertiliser was being supplied to various districts of Punjab and Sindh from there, the spokesman said. They announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for them and directed the police personnel to address the complaints of citizens on priority basis.
