The University of Sindh has decided to set up a consultative committee comprises of members of the university and affiliated degree colleges for co-ordination regarding academic matters of university and colleges. The decision was taken in a meeting with representatives of Sindh Professors Lectures Association (SPLA). Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal presided over the meeting, here on Wednesday.
The meting also approved to hold elections of Senate and Academic Council for representation from the affiliated degree colleges and decided that schedule for the election will be finalised by SPLA representatives and Registrar in a separate meeting. In connection with revision of the Board of Studies (BOS), the meeting agreed that after completion of period of the existing BOS will be revised as per University act, however, official list of senior teachers from the colleges will be provided by the SPLA.
The meeting also decided that those teachers who are interested in M.Phil/Ph.d research will be enable to avail facility for scholarships allocated by the university for college teachers for registration on basis of a letter of recommendation from the principals of concerned colleges. It was informed that research course work as per HEC criteria is essential and the university will not compromise on attendance.
The meeting in connection with increase of seats for sons/daughters of affiliated college teachers in admissions, decided that the matter will be placed before the statuary bodies. The meeting on recommendation of SPLA decided that two senior professors from the colleges will be included in vigilance committees instead of regional directors and one college teacher will be included on each vigilance committee.
It was further decided that all affiliated colleges will be advised to return the old examination material lying with in the colleges and for the future a performa will be sent to colleges. It was further resolved that a list of concerned colleges having old material will be provided to the SPLA.
