Couple detained for three years recovered from landlord

The Lahore High Court here Thursday set at liberty a couple along-with two minors after getting them recovered from the three-year long illegal detention of a local landlord in Depalpur. A court-deputed bailiff had raided the Dera of landlord Haji Shaukat and recovered Muhammad Mansha, Ghulam Fatima and their minors Zakia and Altaf and produced them before the court.
The detainees told the court that the landlord kept them in illegal detention for the last three years and taking labour work from them. They revealed that the landlord and his men used to torture them and threatened of dire consequences if their 'orders' were not obeyed. A relative of the couple had filed habeas corpus petition for the recovery of the couple.
