Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that service to the people is the essence of the politics of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the public service programmes are being implemented expeditiously for the benefit of the masses.
He said that special attention is being paid to the uplift of backward and less-developed areas and development projects are being executed in such areas on priority basis. He was addressing assembly members of Multan and Sahiwal divisions at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that extremism and terrorism were the biggest problems of the country while maintenance of law and order is a collective responsibility. He said that there was a need for displaying collective wisdom and sagacity at the national level in the interest of the survival of the country.
He said that Pakistan is facing an unprecedented situation and all segments of society will have to play their role for countering the threats being faced by the country. The CM said that if foreign aid could bring prosperity to a nation, the situation in Pakistan would have been entirely different. He said that local resources will have to be developed for achieving self-reliance as well as political independence in the real sense for ensuring a respectable status for the country in the comity of nations.
The Chief Minister issued instructions for exemption of the busses purchased for educational institutions from Austerity Committee and observed that nothing could be more important than provision of transport and other facilities to the youth. He appreciated the performance of District Police Office Vehari Ali Rizvi for the elimination of crime and promotion of community policing and said that other police officers should follow his example.
