Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) conducted mock examinations in the history of secondary board, here on Friday. BSEK has conducted the mock examination for the subject of English (C) Science Group of SSC Part-I (Class IX) in 166 centers of Karachi.
Earlier, on March 14, in a press briefing Anzar Hussain Zaidi, Chairman BSEK briefed the media that such action of taking mock papers had been taken to prepare students for real exams. He assured the media that the papers would be conducted in a better and organised way and proper security would be provided to the centres.
It was observed that tall claims of BSEK had become a failure as many centers complain the late arrival of papers. Sitting arrangement torments the students much as space availability was observed a huge problem in many centers. The sitting arrangement instead of reducing increased the chances of cheating. The shortage of drinking water and examiners lack of interest were also some of the prevailing problems during the exams. One more problem, which increases the miseries of students is the prolonged loadshedding in some centers, which not only creates semi darkness but also affects the performance of students.
Private Schools Management Association (PSMA) was not pleased with the mock examinations and declared it a total failure. Meanwhile, BSEK representative informed this scribe that the chairman BSEK has called a meeting in this regard on Sunday to sort out the pros and cons of the mock examinations.
