Nepalese security officials accused India of being behind a series of bomb blasts across Nepal's Tarai belt, saying the attacks were a bid to undermine the current communist-led government, it was reported Monday in Kathmandu. "These incidents may have been orchestrated by India to put the new government under pressure," Nepal's influential Kantipur daily quoted senior security officials as saying.
In the last four days, four blasts killing one person have occurred in the Tarai belt. No one so far has claimed responsibility. The blasts followed soon after the return of top leaders of Tarai- based communist and Maoist parties from New Delhi, where they met not only with senior Indian political figures but also the leaders of Nepali underground armed movements.
