A delegation of the participants of 40th PN Staff Course of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore visited Wapda House here on Thursday, to attend the briefings related to the water and power sectors in Pakistan. The delegation was headed by Commodore Shahid Sohail Rao. Wapda Member (Power) Muhammad Qasim Khan, and other senior officers of Wapda and Pepco were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the delegation, Wapda Member (Power) said Wapda has also undertaken rehabilitation of the electro-mechanical equipments of its aged power houses in addition to executing new hydropower projects. These include Mangla, Tarbela, Warsak and other small hydropower projects. This is being done with a view to meet increasing demand of electricity in the country, he added.
Responding to a question, Pepco MD said we couldn't move forward unless indigenous resources of generating electricity are exploited. He also informed the delegation about various ways and means to reduce Pepco system losses and overcome electricity theft.
