The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has been awarded the prestigious 'Inspire' grant by the British Council for supporting joint academic and research programmes with University of Liverpool, UK. The UHS project has been selected as one of the 17 successful awards out of 123 applications received from both Pakistan and UK.
The proposal was mutually selected and approved by both British Council and Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, after detailed evaluation process, a spokesman of the UHS said here on Monday. Under the project, UHS and Liverpool University will organise workshops and staff exchanges in order to support a student-centred approach to medical education and to identify appropriate charges in assessment approaches.
One important component is to support PhD applicants of high quality at the University of Health Sciences. Dr Ian Willis of Education Development Division, Centre of Lifelong Learning, University of Liverpool, and Professor Dr Arif Khawaja, Director, Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching, UHS, will be jointly responsible for reporting to the British Council and evaluating the project.
It may be noted that the International Strategic Partnerships in Research and Education (Inspire) is a British Council funded project that aims to significantly strengthen academic and research partnership between higher education institution in the UK and in selected Central and Southern Asian countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
