President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday conferred the award of Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam upon Cao Guangjing, Chairman of the China Three Gorges Project Corporation (CTGPC) at a special investiture ceremony here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The President conferred the award on Guangjing, who is heading world's largest hydroelectric power station, in recognition of his role and outstanding services for further strengthening the already existing close bilateral relations between Pakistan and China.
The citation stated that Cao Guangjing was developing a vision to help Pakistan overcome its power shortages within shortest possible time and has offered his services to act as an advisor on hydropower which was a true manifestation of the close and brotherly relation between the two countries. He actively backed the signing of MoUs between Wapda and the CTGPC for comprehensive development of hydropower generation in Pakistan, the citation said.
