All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Punjab and CCPO office, Punjab agreed on Tuesday to set up Industry Police Liaison Committee (IPLC) joint office to control the growing incidents of industrial crimes. In a meeting held at the Aptma Punjab office and chaired jointly by the Senior Vice Chairman Aptma Wisal A. Monnoo and CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen, setting up of a joint office was agreed upon for effective communication, control and co-operation under the arrangement.
It may be noted that Aptma had brought industry complaints to the attention of Inspector General Police Punjab, followed by the Tuesday visit of CCPO Lahore to discuss further co-operation between the association and Punjab police. Aptma members shared their security concerns and mentioned the incidents affecting their day to day to business on ground. Moreover, they added, potential criminal threat was hampering an environment conducive to further investment.
They also proposed verification of labour force at factories to deter criminal activities. Both the sides also agreed upon the appointment of a focal person from either side for future liaison between the industry and the police department. CCPO Lahore agreed to the proposal that the liaison network should be set up at Aptma premises, properly linked to the police department. He also offered training to the security staff of factories by the police trainers.
