Danielle Murdoch, an international motorcyclist reached provincial capital from India through Wagha border. She is presently on a motorbike tour of different countries.
Talking to Business Recorder, she said objective of her tour is to open minds and hearts of peoples of the world in a bid to follow their dreams. She said she reached Pakistan after visiting different countries. She praised Pakistanis for their hospitality.
Danielle Murdoch, who is architect by profession and hails from New Zealand, said she commenced her world tour on her motorbike on October 2010 and would finish this saga in October 2012.
Murdoch said: "I found myself travelling around Laos by motorcycle; it was a great way to move along the arteries of the country reaching out into smaller communities. Finding myself far from the usual tourist destinations I felt a desire to give back to the community, for all the experiences and memories that they have given me by trying to spend the time with each one and helping them out on with their general daily activities and showing them my culture when it was appropriate."
She said she was scared with a lot of misconception ahead of her arrival here but now all her doubts that were mainly developed in the wake of international media reports have been removed. "I have found Lahore a city of rich cultural heritage, traditions with kind-hearted and lovely people adding to its image."
To a query, she said total estimated budget of this tour is 24,000 Australian dollars and Australian Geography and three other companies are sponsoring her tour. To another query, she said she had accomplished a ten-month trip, solo through South East Asia and North East Asia. Answering another question, she said recent earthquake in New Zealand caused much destruction that would take years for rebuilding. She said: "Life is too short to be wasted and must be utilised in most appropriate manner." After visiting Pakistan, Murdoch is travelling to Iran and then to Turkey.
