The funeral prayers of five slain activists of MQM, who were gunned down on last Wednesday, were offered amid air tight security at Orangi town here on Thursday. The deceased namely Habib, Waqas, Zaheer, Raza Idress and Sarfaraz were targeted by unknown-armed assailants, who reached on motorbikes and sprayed indiscriminate bullets at Orangi Town.
They were the activists of MQM chapter 125 of Orangi Town and the residents of the same area. All commercial and social activities at Orangi Town and other neighbourhoods were suspended as armed men restored to aerial firing, forcing shopkeepers to pull down their shutters, following the said killings.
The funeral prayers of Habib, Waqas and Zaheer were offered at 1-D ground of Orangi Town and were buried at Al-Fateh graveyard. Similarly, the rites of remaining deceased were performed at Aoliya Masjid, Hanifiabad and concluded at Rahimshah graveyard. A large number of MQM workers were present in their cortege. It is worth mentioning that the incidents of targeted killing sparked when the activists of MQM offered assistance to the census teams at different areas especially in mix populace areas.
