The timely intervention on the part of Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, helped check increase in the duration of loadshedding in the city. An official of the Governor House said on Friday that the Governor convened a meeting of the heads of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), Tabish Gohar, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Faizullah Abbasi and Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Irfan Qureshi.
He said that a better working relationship has been created among these three organisations so that through assisting one another the loadshedding in the metropolis be eased. The Governor directed the Managing Director of the PSO that the credit line of the KESC, which is 50,000 tons be increased to 80,000 tons so as to compensate the shortage of gas.
He further said that the Federal Finance Minister has assured that differential amount of the additional fuel would be disbursed from the Gas Load Management Programme (GLMP). The Governor also asked the KESC to utilise its available resources so that the duration of loadshedding could not increase.
