The draft of Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) new constitution is in the final stages and after completion it will be sent to Prime Minister Secretariat for formal approval, Minister for Sports Engineer Shaukatullah said Sunday.
Talking to APP he said that the constitution would be promulgated after the approval of the prime minister. The final touches were being given to the new draft constitution. He said that after the devolution of Federal Sports Ministry, Pakistan Sports Board would also be devolved. "A new body will be formed at the Federal level to look after the sports affairs," he said.
The new body, he said besides looking after into affairs of sports federations and associations would be responsible for facilitating the country's teams and player at the international level. He said abolishment of the Concurrent List was a historic step of the PPP government.
He said the transfer of sports ministry would give more rights to the provinces which would help promote sports' activities in the country.
"It will not only remove the sense of deprivation of small provinces but will go a long way in promoting sports in the country," he said.
To a question he said that a letter had been sent to Pakistan Olympic Association for affiliation of FATA Sports Directorate with it.
"There is no dearth of talent in FATA. People of the area are very strong physically and they will be a great asset for the country in sports", he added.
Shaukatullah said that different sports festivals would be arranged in FATA which would not only provide healthy activities to the people there but also help the government to identify talent in different sports. To another question, he said that strict action would be taken against those involved in corruption in different sports projects.
