Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has said that judiciary has the opportunity to remove the stigma from the Punjabi people and Punjabi judges by giving a decision on the review of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto case. Latif Khosa was addressing the 3rd Convocation of University of Animal And Veterinary Sciences at Pattoki Campus on Thursday.
Vice-Chancellor UVAS Dr Muhammad Nawaz and provincial secretary livestock Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan was also present on the occasion. On this occasion degrees were awarded to 630 students in which 26 were PhDs, 162 MPhil, 79 MBAs and 348 DVMs. Khosa said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has done a great job in promoting higher education and government is not considering abolishing the HEC adding that after the 18th Amendment more powers were delegated to provinces and provincial higher education commissions would also be made.
Khosa said that Pakistan Peoples Party believed in strong provinces because without strong provincial units federation would not be strong. He also said that he will make all out efforts for the betterment of higher education and will try his best that universities will get funds so that work on their programmes will not be stalled.
He said that he will also talk to President, Prime Minister and political leadership for increasing the budget for education. Khosa also planted a sapling and also exhorted students to plant trees. Earlier, during his visit to the Pattoki campus spreading over 1,000 acres, he said that agriculture and livestock is the backbone of the country and we can earn a lot of foreign exchange by exporting the livestock. He said that we should work on the gene technology and produce disease-free animals and seeds.
While giving the briefing to the governor during his visit to the campus Vice Chancellor UVAS Dr Muhammad Nawaz said that a milk plant having a capacity of pasteurised 3000 liters of milk will be functional very soon. He said that machinery of the plant, which was imported from Germany had reached Pakistan.
