Punjab Labour Minister Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi has said that micro-credit scheme has been launched and Rs 40.8 million soft term loans have been distributed among the labourers. He said that Punjab government has initiated a comprehensive strategy to eliminate the curse of bounded labour and under the reform agenda educational and social reforms are being introduced at the brick kilns of the province.
He said that at first stage 170 non-formal schools has been established at brick kilns in District Kasur and Lahore and 5500 male and female students are being benefited from these schools. He said that health camps have also been organised at Bhattas and 3500 labourers/patients have been provided treatment facilities.
While talking to a delegation of Brick Kilns' workers, here on Thursday, Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi said that government is giving top priority to eliminate the menace of bonded labour in brick kilns and combating worst forms of child labour from the province. In order to establish peaceful society and economic prosperity, it is necessary to eliminate the child labour and provide modern education to the children of all segments of the society so that the young generation should become the useful citizens of the society, he concluded.
