Federal Minister for Law Maula Bux Chandio has said that the nation would defeat the dark forces of hatred with the help of book. He was addressing on the occasion of a book fair organised by the National Book Foundation in connection with National Book Day celebrations here on Friday.
He urged politicians to read books regularly so that they could resolve the problems being confronted by the country. "Book makes your solitude meaningful and diminishes fear of death," he said, adding that history must be recorded properly and all the historical records must be set right and the books should speak nothing but truth.
MD National Book Foundation Mazharul Islam announced that the NBF would establish a National Book Museum first of its kind in Islamabad. At the museum, the NBF would place first and original manuscripts of rare books. This will be a living museum which will preserve evolution of book production in Pakistan. "At present, readers and researchers are facing a great difficulty in finding the original version of the books while the second and third versions of the book are sketchy and unauthentic," he added.
He highlighted various projects of the NBF including Village Book Clubs, Travelers Book Club, Prisoners' Free Minds Book Clubs, Hospital Book Club and others. Earlier, Maula Bux Chandio inaugurated the Book Fair. On the occasion more than 50 children in colorful costumes participated in a book march and played band.
In the evening, book reading sessions were held for children as well as general public. Prominent personalities, intellectuals and writers delighted the audience with their stories. A large number of book lovers also visited the book fair and purchased books on discount.
