Director General Agriculture Extension Sindh, Abdul Waheed Shaikh, while presiding over a meeting of agriculture officers at his office Friday, said the department has chalked out an agro-awareness campaign to be carried out from April 28 to June 23 2011 in the entire Sindh. DG Agriculture Extension said that under the campaign, a seminar on modern cultivation of cotton crop would be held at Sanghar, Tando Allahyar and Digri on April 28, 2011.
Such seminars would also be organised in Tando Mohammad Khan on April 30, Badin on May 2, Nawabshah and Matiari on May 3 and in Noushero Feroze on May 8, 2011. Likewise, growers of Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shahdadpur, Umerkot and Ghotki would be informed about latest cultivation methods of cotton crop through seminars and two-way communication methodology.
He further informed the meeting that a separate awareness campaign for the growers of paddy crop of paddy zone would also be launched from June 2, 2011. He said that a series of informative seminars on paddy cultivation would be started from June 2, 2011 in Larkana, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Jecubabad, Dadu, Badin, Golarchi and Thatta.
Shaikh directed the officers to conduct extensive social mobilisation and communication with the growers, stakeholders and sister organisations to make the campaign more successful and meaningful. He further directed them to concentrate on the targets assigned to them and remain in the field and monitor performance of lower staff.
