13 accused in Mukhtaran Mai case released

Thirteen persons who were under trial in Mukhtaran Mai gang rape case were released after the Supreme Court verdict here on Tuesday. According to details, the Lahore High Court had ordered the release of thirteen under trial accused involved in Mukhtar Mai rape case and the complainant through her counsel had moved an application to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Lahore High Court.
The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the LHC and acquitted the accused. Those, who were released included Hafiz Mazhar, Allah Ditta, Khalil Ahmed, Nazar Hussain, Qasim, Faiz Muhammad, Muhammad Faiz, Ghulam Farid, Rasool Bakhsh, Hazoor Bakhsh, Ramzan and Muhammad Aslam.
