Adam Thomson, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom in Pakistan on Wednesday called on the 'UK Friendship Group' in Parliament of Pakistan and discussed covered areas across range of issues of mutual interest including enhanced development assistance to Pakistan from UK's 'Department for International Development (DFID).'
The objective of the meeting was to help 'UK Friendship Group' understand the role of the UK in Pakistan in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries, as was termed by Prime Minister David Cameron a 'Fresh Start' during his recent visit into Pakistan.
Adam Thomson said: "We see Pakistan as absolutely vital country for Britain's interests in the world and therefore, your success is important to us. We are very keen to facilitate contacts between the British Parliament and the National Assembly and Senate in Pakistan."
"The UK is pursuing engagement with Pakistan across the board. For instance, when Prime Minister David Cameron visited Pakistan earlier this month, he launched with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani the 'enhanced strategic dialogue,' a framework within which we can discuss the core spectrum of issues. Our focus is trying to build understanding and trust between two countries on some of the most difficult issues."-PR
