Punjab University Model United Nations (PUMUN) team has won six Outstanding Diplomacy Awards at the Muenster University Model United Nations (MUIMUN) 2011 at Muenster, Germany and Finnish Model United Nations (FinMUN) 2011 at Helsinki, Finland. PU 9-member student delegation took part in MUIMUN 2011 in which over 200 delegates from the world participated and PU students won five Outstanding Diplomacy Awards.
The winning students include Mohammad Umer Riaz and Zeeshan Nadeem of Law College, Saad Arsalan Iqbal of College of Art & Design, Uneza Hamid of ICS and Muhammad Saqib of ICET. Four students were selected as Judges by Munster University Germany. The students not only served as members of the Secretariat in Munster University Model United Nations Conference 2011 but also adjudicated sessions in various committees. The students included Muhammad Bilal Ramzan and Ameer Hamza Dogar of Law College, Sher Afghan Malik of IAS and Raza Bakir Shah of IBA.
The delegation took part in FinMUN 2011. Students from various nationalities took part in this single committee conference. PU delegation won the award for "Best Delegation at Global Village" and the sole Outstanding Diplomacy Award was won by Uneza Hamid of ICS. This is the first time that PUMUN delegation took part in Finnish Model United Nations.
VC Dr Mujahid Kamran and Chairperson Department of English Language & Literature and Director PU Model United Nations Society Professor Shaista Sonnu Sirajuddin have congratulated the students on their most commendable achievement and hoped that this collaboration between students of these universities and the Punjab University will lead to further academic collaborations.
While Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance (HCBF) Principal Professor Dr Kh. Amjad Saeed's book titled "The Economy of Pakistan" (Revised and Updated Edition - 2011) has been published by Oxford University Press. The book was originally authored by Dr Saeed with the title "Economic Structure of Pakistan" in 1977 and it earned the best book of the year award on the Economy of Pakistan by the Writers Guild.
