Agriculture College DG Khan would be upgraded and given the status of agriculture university. Experimental farm and academic block would be constructed on 1000 acre of land adjacent to this university.
This was decided at a high level meeting presided over by Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa. Secretary Agriculture Nadeem Arif, Vice Chancellor Agriculture University Faisalabad, Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan, Commissioner DG Khan and officers of education department were present in the meeting. Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that barren and irrigated land is available in DG Khan.
He said that by establishing Agriculture University, research would be carried out for brining barren land under cultivation. He said that besides agriculture, the subjects of commerce, information technology, social sciences and science would be taught in this university. He further said that best faculty comprising of local and foreign teachers would be posted in Agriculture University DG Khan.
Later, Senior Advisor reviewed implementation on development schemes of DG Khan Division. He expressed his satisfaction that work on development projects was being carried out satisfactorily but due to negligence of concerned officers, some schemes were pending. He directed that explanation of the officers responsible for delay in development works be called and disciplinary action be taken against them. Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa appreciated the performance of district administration for removing encroachments from DG Khan city and added that this campaign was successful due to co-operation of traders.
