Convenor of non-political National Democratic Alliance and member National Assembly, Nawabzada Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti urged politicians to shun their differences, sit together and work for the restoration of peace. Addressing the second session of the World Pashto Peace Conference at Nishtar Hall Peshawar on Friday, he said the Pakhtun and their children on both sides of the boarders were being killed in the war for a long time.
An ANP dissident MNA from Mardan observed the political parties might have differences with each others but they would have to shun those differences for the better future of their coming generation. Appreciating the organisers of the peace conference, he said that the moot had given an opportunity to all politicians to sit together, discuss the issues and work for uniting all the divided Pakhtuns.
He observed Pakhtuns were living miserable life despite having natural resources. He said the people of Southern districts had the right over their gas in Gurgury. He said the government should first provide gas to each and every village in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before supplying it to the other provinces.
Hoti asked the participants of the world peace conference to work for the restoration of peace but he observed this purpose would not be achieved without eradicating corruption. He said the rampant corruption had shaken very foundation of the country and the rulers were presenting wrong pictures to hide their corruption. "We will have to work against corruption and theft, which is the main hurdles in the restoration of peace in the country," he added.
He said that the rulers resolved the issue of National Finance Commission (NFC) Award but questioned whether it had benefited the poor section of society or not. He said the situation in the KP would have been different today if the rulers construct small dams with the amount it received from the NFC but that was not done. He said the unannounced loadshedding and excessive billing had made the lives of people miserable but the rulers were making tall claims instead of practically working for the solution of poor problems.
Without naming anyone, Hoti recalled the rulers had promised during their election campaign to provide pen to Pakhtun children instead of Kalshnikovs but today the Pakhtun children were carrying Kalshnikovs instead of pens. "We will have to improve economic condition of our people as without it, no progress can be achieved," he said and asked the rulers to work for economic prosperity of the country.
