Inspector General of Islamabad Police Wajid Ali Durrani has said that peace was vital to economic development, so it was necessary to take all possible measures for maintaining peace in the country. "Development would take place in the areas where there is peace and peace will help us attract foreign investment and open new vistas of economic development," the IGP said while inaugurating Community Police Centres at Dhok Kashmiryan and sector F/11 of the capital, here on Wednesday.
DIG (Operations) Bani Amin Khan, AIG (Operations) Ehsan Sadiq, SP (Saddar) Dr Khurram Shehzad, DSP (Saddar) Malik Tahir Mehmood, DSP Margalla, Khurshid Ahmad, SHO Golrra, Inspector Qasim Khan Niazi, SHO Shalimar, Inspector Khalid Mehmood Awan, members of security and vigilance committees including Javed Butt, Yasin Nambardar, Malik Ayub, Malik Sajid, Haji Pervez, Malik Ahmad Nawaz, Malik Adnan, Malik Waqar, Raja Yasin and Niaz Hussain Shah also attended the inauguration ceremonies.
Wajid Durrani stressed the need of effective co-operation between community and police, which according to him was vital for eradicating menace of terrorism and crime from society. "It is highly appreciable that people are co-operating with police and this collaboration would result in curbing terrorism and decline in crimes rate," the IGP said.
"Capital Police is utilising all available resources and taking measures to ensure peace in Islamabad and we are in process of devising a strategy with the active support of the community," Durrani said. He said that every police station of the Capital territory had been divided into beats, which would help the Station House Officers (SHOs) to work effectively for protection of lives and properties of the citizens.
Community Police Officer would look after law and order in their respective areas, besides developing contacts with the local people for friendly policing, Wajid added. Notables of the area welcomed the initiatives of the IGP and assured their full co-operation to the police.
