Youm-e-Takbir was celebrated in Multan by the PML-N 's all wings to commemorate the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan on May 28 1998 in response to Indian nuclear explosions. Two main functions were held in Multan. One was presided over by Zahid Bahar Hashmi and addressed by former Punjab Minister Mian Saeed Ahmed Qureshi, Shaikh Athar Mumtaz, Shahid Mukhtar Lodhi, Zafar Qadri, Aslam Saeed Qurewshi while the other main function was held in Shah Rukn-i-Alam Colony.
Youm-e-Takbir was also celebrated in rest of southern Punjab with great fervour and enthusiasm. The nuclear explosions on May 28, 1998 made Pakistan the 7th nuclear nation of the world and first Muslim state equipped with the deadly arsenal. In this connection, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) organised special gatherings to highlight the importance of the day.
