At least five persons including two political workers were killed in an ongoing spate of targeted killings in various parts of the metropolis on Wednesday. According to police, two brothers and activists of Awami National Party (ANP) were gunned down at Korangi no. 1 within the jurisdiction of Awami Colony police station.
The victims, who were identified as 24-year-old Nasarullah, son of Aman Ullah and his elder brother Habibullah 35, were targeted by unidentified armed men outside the house located in Korangi no 1. Both victims sustained multiple bullets injuries and died on the spot. Police said that the victim
Nasarullah used to work in a local towel factory as contractor while his elder brother Habibullah was a cab driver. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and later handed over to their heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
Spokesman of ANP Sindh chapter Qadir Khan claimed the affiliation of the victims with his party, saying that both brothers associated with the Awami Colony Ward office. He also condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of the culprits involved in the said killings. In another incident, a 35-year-old Qasim Magsi, son of Essa Magsi was shot dead in Al-Falah police precincts.
Police said the victim, who was a watchman at Gulistan-e-Malir, succumbed to his injuries on the way to JPMC. They suspected that he might have been murdered over personal enmity. In another act of violence, a rickshaw driver was killed in Sector 11-A, North Karachi within the limits of Sir Syed police station. Police said the deceased, who was later identified as Ejaz Ali, 48, son of Iqrar Hussain, was a rickshaw driver by his professon. No case was registered.
A body of a youth was found near Shahzad Mor in Qasba Colony within the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station. Police said the body, which hands were roped, had several torture marks and was wrapped in cloth, adding that the victim had received three bullets on his upper torso.
