The Lahore High Court here on Friday dismissed several identical petitions challenging appointing process for six public sector universities vice-chancellors in the province and composition of "search committee" tasked to make impugned appointments.
The Court on June 14 last had reserved its verdict in the case and announcing its decision observed that it found no reason to interfere in the proceedings of search committee. While dismissing an argument of the petitioners that the committee members were not qualified to do the given job, the court remarked: "That there is no illegality in constitution of Search Committee and added the committee consists of renowned educationists."
The Court dismissed the petitions with these observations and added that it was not convinced that there were any irregularities in the process for appointment of vice-chancellors. Petitions were filed by Dr Hassan Amir Shah of government college Lahore, Dr Bushra Khan of Lahore College for Women University and others.
