The Jamaat-i-Islami Chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has deplored that millions of people affected by the devastating floods last year are still on roads without shelter while the foreign aid for them has been misappropriated by the corrupt rulers.
Talking to a delegation of flood-affected people from Jackobabad attending the JI monthly workshop at Mansoora on Tuesday, he said the recent heavy rains have added to the agony of the marooned people who are now facing a fresh flood. He said that tents, blankets, food stuff and other relief goods received from abroad for the flood affected are being openly sold in the market with the blessing of the rulers.
He said that the government is not serious about the threat of fresh floods this year and is not taking preventive measures. The JI Chief said that the rulers have failed to provide any relief to the people and the democratic government is continuing dictatorial policies. He said that the doors of the JI are open to all but it won't be a part of any alliance that does not enjoy the confidence of the masses.
