HRW wheat bids steady to firmer

Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady to firmer on Wednesday amid active harvesting and rolling of bids to post against September futures. Harvest of the new US HRW wheat crop was 56 percent completed as of July 3, according to a government report issued Tuesday afternoon.
The crop was 84 percent harvested in the top HRW wheat-growing state of Kansas and nearly wrapped up in Oklahoma and Texas, while Colorado was 21 percent harvested and Nebraska was 2 percent done, according to the US Department of Agriculture. Protein premiums jumped 45 cents for 14.00 percent protein wheat supplies. KCBT July wheat ended up 15-1/2 cents at $7.18-1/2 on Tuesday and September ended up 15-1/4 at $7.36.
