The Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for enhancing research skills and capacity building of student in the field of disaster management.
According to the MoU, the ERRA would provide necessary database to SZBIST and also arrange field visits for the student of the university. The authority is also sharing experiences learnt from the disasters of last 6 years with all the leading higher educational institutes across the country. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lieutenant General Sardar Mahmood Ali Khan said that the academia could prepare the young generations through academic research, well-planned strategies and trained human resource.
The deputy chairman ERRA also said that institutional approach and professionalism was initially missing in the field of disaster management and collaboration between scholars, academia and professionals would learn from the current and future disaster management strategies which are of paramount importance in the current age.
