The law-and-order situation of the city remained tense as four persons were killed and several others injured in old areas of the metropolis on Monday. According to details, the warfare between Kachi community and the Lyari gangsters at Lyari claimed four lives and wounded scores of others.
Following the said gun battle, the offices of Kachi Rabita Committee (KRC) and MQM were ransacked and set ablaze by unidentified miscreants. The old city areas including Kharadar, Mithadar, Ranchorline, Agra Taj, Eidgah and various other localities remain tense where intense firing between the Kachi Community and Lyari gangsters suspended all commercial and social activities. The law-enforcement agencies have appeared toothless to bring situation in control as they were unable to get access to these areas till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of a youth was found where intense firing was continued between these rival groups. The deceased was identified as Abdul Sattar resident of Sango lane Kalakot. Yet another body was found from Khajoor Bazaar, Kharadar. The identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained while the Lyari gangsters left the body in iron box. The body of Muhammad Hassan was found within the limits of Pak Colony police station.
Police said the deceased was a passer-by sustained gunshots when he was on the way to somewhere. The deceased was the resident of Hassan Olia Village and was milkman by his profession. One Shabbit Aziz was targeted by unidentified armed men near Khadda Market. The victim, who received multiple shots, succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The victim was the resident of Moosa Lane, while seven others including a woman, who received bullet wounds in Lyari gun battle, were rushed to civil hospital Karachi and private community hospital in Lyari.
Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Lyari belonging to KRC staged protest demonstration at National Highway and Maripur road against the kidnapping of their members from Lyari. The protesters, who shouted slogans against the Lyari gangsters, demanded the government to take remedial measures for the release of their abducted members. They claimed that the gangsters have abducted their eight members.
Later, Provincial Home Minister Manzoor Wasan on telephonic conversation assured for his supports in this regard but the representatives of KRC kept demanding for the release of their abducted members without any negotiations. Hassan Kachi while talking to a press conference said that scores of young men, who were kidnapped in last couple of years, found dead in different areas of Lyari. He said the KRC office located in Hangorabad and Moosa Lane were ransacked and set on fire by unidentified miscreants and also alleged the police to provide full support to the Lyari gangsters.
