A four-day international conference of the satellite technology experts of the Islamic countries started on Tuesday to develop mechanism and tackle disasters by satellite data sharing.
Satellite technology experts from different member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) are participating in this conference during which they will develop a mechanism for satellite data sharing among these countries for better disaster management such as floods and earthquakes.
The conference is being organised jointly by the organisation of Islamic Co-operation Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Co-operation (COMSTECH), Inter-Islamic network on Space Sciences and Technology (ISNET) and Morocco-based Islamic, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO).
While addressing the participants, Chairman Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and President of ISNET, Ahmad Bilal said, "we all are aware of the impact of satellite communications on human life which has transformed the entire world into a global village".
