Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) has launched its Zakat collection campaign for the year 2011. For the collection of Zakat, the hospital has already activated its accounts in local and foreign banks.
In addition to this, the donors can also deposit their Zakat directly in SKMCH&RC, its Offices, diagnostic centres, collection centres, all Pakistan Post Offices and easy paisa shops and mobile account. The donors can also donate online at www.shaukatkhanum.org.pk and call at 111 155 555 for the collection of their Zakat cheques directly from their doorstep, a spokesman of the hospital said.
According to him, the hospital, equipped with the latest medical machinery and qualified staff, is aimed at providing world class state-of-the-art treatment to cancer patients, irrespective of their ability to pay. The hospital has already spent over Rs 9 billion on free treatment of deserving cancer patients during the last 16 years. Hospital's annual budget for the year 2011 is Rs 3.7 billion; about half of this to be met from public donations and Zakat and the remaining half, from revenue generated from hospital services. The total amount of Zakat collected will be spent on the free treatment of deserving cancer patients as usual.
It is worth mentioning here that to provide cancer treatment and diagnostic facilities to the patients on their door step, the management of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital has started the construction work of a complete cancer hospital in Peshawar whereas plans are underway to build a cancer hospital in Karachi as well. Shaukat Khanum Memorial Diagnostic and treatment Centres are already working in Peshawar and Karachi. The management of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre hopes that the people of Pakistan will donate more and support this noble cause this year as well.
